In Western Slovakia, police keeping an eye on passing traffic got quite a surprise when a dog cruised past them in the driver's seat of a car. They pulled the car over and realized that a 31-year-old man was driving. He claimed the dog "suddenly jumped over his knees," but the video footage disproves that.
The driver was fined for disobeying traffic laws. It's a good reminder to take care of the dog's safety when transporting a dog. Dogs can move quickly and can jeopardize the safety of everyone in the car and on the road. Hopefully, that dog's owner learned his lesson.

Achromatopsia is a medical condition in dogs caused by their eye cones degenerating. It affects how a dog can see in the bright light of daytime. There's no cure for this condition, but there are ways to make life easier for dogs with it.
Dogs are often diagnosed around seven weeks old. It's more common in Labradors, Malamutes, and German Shepherds. Some of the most common symptoms reported include disorientation during the daytime, constantly seeking shade, stumbling, tripping, and inability to see toys. These symptoms decrease during the evening and night hours.
Your vet will likely recommend that your dog see an eye specialist to confirm the condition. Protect your dog at home by keeping your yard clear and secure. Walk your dog on a leash to keep them closer to you. Train them using verbal cues instead of visual cues. There are also some special tinted glasses that your dog can wear called "Doggles." These will help protect your dog's eyes during daylight hours.
