Meet Madagascar's Royal Dog
Have you ever heard of the Coton de Tulear? This breed is extremely lovable. It even has its own holiday, Coton de Tulear Day, on November 26. The breed's name comes from the French word for cotton and the name of the Madagascar port city, Toliara, the breed's birthplace.

Cotons du Tulear once lived with the Malagasy royalty and have become known as the royal dog of Madagascar. In 2012, a Cotie even entered the Guinness Book of World Records when she walked down the aisle as the "bride" in the world's most expensive dog wedding. Baby Hope Diamond was her name, and she was clothed in an extravagant $6,000 bridal gown. Sounds like something only fit for a queen!

Some of the famous owners of Cotons de Tulear include Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Debra Messing, Barbra Streisand, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. While these breeds are incredibly special, they are down at #84 on the American Kennel Club's 2022 list. Have you heard of this royal breed?

How to Register a Service Dog
Service dogs have special training to help humans with a specific task. These dogs often assist people with disabilities in their homes, public spaces, and on different transportation methods. Their companionship allows humans to lead a safer and more enjoyable life by helping them navigate or stay protected.

Anyone who has a disability is eligible for a service dog. As long as the pup can improve your quality of life, you shouldn't have any issues getting paired with one. People with PTSD, seizure disorders, social anxiety, and some physical disabilities work with these trained dogs.

It's important to speak with a licensed professional to get a diagnosis and ensure that you are paired with a properly trained dog. Not all service dogs must be registered according to the Americans with Disabilities Act, but most states require some type of dog license.

Fortunately, getting a dog license isn't difficult. Check with your city and see what their rules are. Once you have the license, you can register your service dog. You'll need to get the dog from a reputable trainer. Then, you can use US Service Animals, follow the steps online to provide the necessary details, and schedule a call with a licensed mental health professional. You will receive a certificate that will permit the dog in public spaces and be at your side whenever needed.

Tips To Care For An Elderly Dog
Caring for an elderly dog requires thoughtful attention to their unique needs. Beyond standard care, consider these lesser-known tips to ensure the well-being of your senior canine companion:
  1. Joint Supplements: Incorporate joint supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin to support aging joints and alleviate discomfort associated with arthritis.

  2. Dental Hygiene: Dental health is crucial for seniors. Regular dental check-ups, dental-friendly toys, and teeth-cleaning treats help maintain oral hygiene and prevent dental issues.

  3. Mental Stimulation: Engage your elderly dog's mind with puzzle toys, gentle training sessions, or new experiences to stave off cognitive decline and keep them mentally sharp.

  4. Adapted Exercise: Tailor exercise routines to your dog's abilities, opting for low-impact activities like swimming or short walks to maintain mobility without excessive strain.

  5. Nutritional Adjustments: Consider specialized senior dog food with age-appropriate nutrients and consult your vet for dietary adjustments to address specific health concerns, ensuring your senior dog's nutritional needs are met. These lesser-known strategies contribute to the overall health and happiness of your aging canine friend.

Guide to Running With Dogs
Is running one of your New Year's resolutions? It's a great form of exercise, and an excellent way to bond with your dog when you bring them along. It's important to understand that each dog has its own limits regarding distance and duration. Some dogs can run for an hour, while others will tire after 10 minutes, so check out these tips before you get started.
  • Ease into running with your dog slowly. Over several weeks, build up their endurance and get them used to the activity. Observe the dog's enthusiasm to ensure that they enjoy it.
  • Make sure to wait until dogs are at least one and a half years old. The impact of running can damage growth plates, so puppies should not be joining you until they are fully grown.
  • Train your dog and slowly increase the distance over time, just like you would for human training and just getting started.
  • Check your dog's heart rate. Know your dog's baseline heart rate and then check it after a run. If it isn't slowing down, they might be overheated or dehydrated. You can check their pulse on their chest or femoral artery in the middle of their thigh.
  • Protect dogs from environmental hazards. Be careful of hot asphalt, rocks, and concrete. Dogs can get sunburns. Wildlife encounters can also happen, like snakes or insects. Be prepared for anything that might present itself.
  • Consider your gear. A waist leash might be more comfortable because you can be hands–free. Bring along a water bottle for yourself and a way for your dog to recharge. Ensure you and the dog are visible, especially if the light is low during your runs.
Once you've taken these tips into consideration, you're ready to hit the trails and give it a try. Enjoy the special bonding time with your pup and the great health benefits for both of you.

How To Ensure You Have A Relaxing Night
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes! Learn more here.
