Four Ways to Turn Your Dog's Paw into a Keepsake
Turn your pup's paw into a keepsake this holiday season. These ideas make great gift options or allow you to have a special item you can cherish forever. It's perfect for new puppies or canines who have been family members for a while. There are four great options to choose from:
  • Create a clay dog paw imprint. You can make your own dough by mixing a cup of flour with a cup of salt and water. Cover the mold with wax paper before gently pressing your dog's paw in it. Bake it at 200 degrees for a few hours, then paint it if you want.
  • Stamp the paw print outline on a blank canvas. This option is very DIY-friendly. Grab some non-toxic water-based paints or washable finger paints. Dip your dog's paw into the paint and gently press onto a canvas. Wash your dog's paw off thoroughly afterward.
  • Turn their paw prints into colorful flowers. Use the same method as above with the paint, but press down on a canvas multiple times to create unique patterns and shapes. Use a marker to add leaves and stems afterward.
  • Utilize a computer scanner. This trend has been on TikTok. You place your hand next to your dog's paw on the scanner and have someone hit scan. This is a cute way to capture your hands together, and it's super easy to do.

Gift Ideas For The Pickiest Of Pups
The holiday season is upon us and finding the ideal gift for your furry friend can be a delightful yet challenging task, especially when your pup is a little picky! Whether your four-legged friend is a connoisseur of treats or a trendsetter in the world of doggy fashion, here are our picks that are sure to make your pup happy:
  • Gourmet Dog Treats: For the pup with a refined palate, consider indulging them with gourmet dog treats. Opt for treats made from high-quality, all-natural ingredients that are not only delicious but also provide health benefits.
  • Personalized Dog Bed: Give your pup the gift of comfort with a personalized dog bed. Choose a bed with orthopedic support for older dogs or a plush, luxurious option for the pampered pooch. Personalize it with their name or a special message to make it truly unique and show them just how much they mean to you.
  • Interactive Puzzle Toys: For the intellectually curious pup, interactive puzzle toys are a fantastic gift option. These toys not only provide mental stimulation but also keep your dog entertained for hours. Look for puzzles that dispense treats as a reward, encouraging problem-solving skills while satisfying their taste buds.
  • Subscription Box for Dogs: Keep the surprises coming with a subscription box tailored to your pup's preferences. There are subscription services that offer a curated selection of toys, treats, and accessories delivered right to your doorstep each month.
  • Spa Day Essentials: Pamper your pup with a spa day at home. Invest in high-quality grooming products, such as organic shampoos, conditioners, and paw balms. Create a relaxing spa environment with scented candles and soothing music, turning bath time into a luxurious experience for your discerning dog.
This holiday season, show your pup how much you appreciate their companionship with these thoughtful gifts! Our top tip is to get as much of your holiday shopping done online to avoid the crowds at the mall. Happy holidays!

Rescue Groups Who Help Animals in Natural Disasters
A survey by the ASPCA discovered that 83% of pet owners live in a community that could potentially face natural disasters. It's getting harder and harder to avoid. Many people have had to evacuate their homes in the past at least once. Unfortunately, pets are sometimes left behind in these emergency situations. Many areas have animal response teams that are ready to brave the elements and rescue animals in danger.

In parts of California that are prone to fires, groups like the North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG) exist. These groups are able to quickly open emergency shelters to take in animals, and families with animals. Many places that people stay when evacuated from their homes do not allow animals, so volunteers at these shelters help walk, feed, and care for the animals until their owners can retrieve them.

Some organizations help places that are prone to flooding. The Lousiana State Animal Response Team has been operating since 2000. Most protocols involve human rescue in floods, but not animal rescue. This organization is more equipped to help with the animals. Highly trained volunteers can assist local and federal agencies with pets to ensure that the animals return to their owners and have a safe place.

Pet owners should have a pet emergency preparedness plan if they need to evacuate their home for any reason. It's about having a plan and practicing and testing that plan. Have updated photos of your animals and keep records someplace accessible. And a special thanks to these hard-working animal rescue groups!

Are You Stressing Your Dog Out?
It's no secret that stress can take a toll on our well-being, impacting everything from our physical health to our mental state. However, what many pet owners may not realize is that stress can also significantly affect their canine companions.

Dogs, being highly perceptive and emotionally attuned creatures, can experience stress in various situations, and its effects on their overall health and behavior are not to be underestimated.

When an owner is stressed, their dog may mirror those emotions, leading to an overall anxious atmosphere in the household. This emotional contagion can contribute to behavioral changes and increased stress levels in the dog.

Here are some tips to take care of yourself and in turn, your pup:
  1. Mindfulness: Incorporate activities like meditation and deep breathing to stay present and alleviate stress.
  2. Balanced Lifestyle: Maintain overall well-being through regular exercise, healthy eating, and sufficient sleep, recognizing the connection between physical and mental health.
  3. Social Connections: Foster meaningful relationships with supportive friends and family, as social engagement contributes significantly to emotional resilience and mental well-being.
