Elderly Dog Saves Puppy Brother
Mission Viejo is in Southern California, and many coyotes live in the hills. David and Erin Macaluso returned home from a walk with their two dogs when their puppy immediately ran through the dog door to the backyard because he heard a noise. He came face-to-face with a pair of coyotes. The coyotes grabbed the puppy and caused him to cry out. His 11-year-old brother, Vinny, a ten-pound Maltese mix with just a few teeth left, ran to rescue him.

Vinny might be small, but the Macalusos say that he's a scrapper. His low growl and non-existent fear scared off the coyotes, and the couple was able to get the puppy to the vet right away. Twenty stitches later, the puppy, Harley, healed up, and Vinny is known to the neighborhood as a hero. It's a good reminder to keep an eye on your pets in the backyard when there is the threat of wild animals.

Tips to Help Your Dog Become a Viral Hit
We don't know about you, but animal videos online are our favorites. But how do these dogs reach viral sensation status? Some of the fast fame is just luck, but there are a few tips to help you get your videos out there and seen.

Tips to Create a Viral Dog Video
  1. Choose a winning concept. Try trending concepts and put your own spin on them. Use your dog's personality and unique talents to stand out from others. Take advantage of trending memes or current events to make your content relevant at the moment as well.
  2. Film with quality and creativity. Choose a visually appealing environment to film. Utilize props and decorations. Shoot from different angles to make it more visually appealing. Add a storyline or narrative so the video is interesting and people want to watch it to the end. Make sure to compress the video to make it easy to share on social media.
  3. Be authentic and engage with your audience. Keep everything fun and true to your morals. Respond to comments and messages to connect with your audience, grow your following, and be seen by more users. Try collaborating with other pet influencers, to share your audiences with each other and reach more people.

Exotic Pets That Can Live With Dogs
If you're looking to expand your family, and have been thinking about bringing in another animal not in the canine group, a few exotic pets have a great track record with dogs. There's no guarantee for interspecies' friendships, but these species have been known to be friendly with pups and might be worth researching.

Exotic Pets That Might Love Living With Dogs
  • Chinchilla - This pet is in the rodent family, so some dogs may tap into their prey instinct. However, with supervised playtime, these can be great partners to small toy breeds.
  • Guinea Pig - These friendly and docile rodents are social creatures. Make sure they have their own room where the dog cannot enter so they can relax and rest. Be careful of the prey drive with these rodents. Dogs with soft mouths, like Golden and Labrador Retrievers, might be great pairs.
  • Parrot - These intelligent and vibrant birds can be a fun partner for a dog, especially with their ability to mimic sounds. Introduce the two slowly with the dog on a leash and the bird in their cage, and supervise their interactions.
  • Rabbit - These gentle creatures make excellent companions for dogs with lower energy levels and low prey drive, like bulldogs and Shih Tzus. Although, it's important to train the dog not to chase the rabbits.
  • Ferret - This playful and friendly animal can be a great companion for a dog. People find a lot of success in building bonds between these two when they are raised together from a young age.
  • Lizard - This low-maintenance pet can easily live alongside dogs. Just keep their enclosure protected from curious pups. They can also be afraid of loud barks, so they are happiest with quieter breeds.
  • Sugar Glider - This tiny marsupial loves social interaction and could definitely get along with a friendly and docile dog. Dogs that are not hunting breeds could be good fits as long as they are trained.
