Austin Pets Alive! - Saving Texas Dogs for 25 Years
Austin Pets Alive is a rescue organization in Austin, Texas, founded in 1997 by James Collins, a local attorney, and his wife, Judy Ford. The organization originally worked with the city to reduce the euthanasia rate of animals and change the city shelter to No Kill status. When they didn't see the improvements they were targeting, they were reborn as a rescue organization in which they began doing off-site adoptions and on-site medical care.

In 2022, they hit the milestone of saving their 100,000th pet! Now, they are at over 120,000. Their website showcases adoptable dogs and cats and has a special page for the dogs who need you the most (including sweet Franklin, pictured below).

Austin Pets Alive has some unique programs, including a dog behavior program, a special ICU for parvo puppies, and PASS (positive alternatives to shelter surrender.) The dog playgroups allow the adoptable dogs to socialize and exercise while also learning common tools tested in the Canine Good Citizen program.

If you want to adopt a dog in Texas or donate to help this organization continue to save the lives of dogs and cats, check out more on their website

Famous Works Of Art That Feature Dogs
Canine companions have inspired artists throughout history, resulting in timeless works of art that capture the essence of loyalty, playfulness, and the enduring bond between humans and dogs. Notable masterpieces featuring our four-legged friends include:
  • Sir Edwin Landseer's "The Monarch of the Glen" (1851): While primarily a depiction of a majestic stag, Landseer's inclusion of a faithful dog at the stag's side adds a touch of companionship.

  • Pablo Picasso's "Woman with a Dog" (1961): In this modern masterpiece, Picasso's abstraction skillfully portrays the connection between the woman and her canine companion, emphasizing emotion over realism.

  • Frida Kahlo's "Self-Portrait with Small Monkey and Parrot" (1940): Though not exclusively focused on dogs, Kahlo's self-portrait features her beloved Xoloitzcuintli dogs, symbolizing loyalty and protection.

These artworks not only showcase the artistic versatility of dogs as subjects but also immortalize the profound relationships they share with humans, proving that a dog's presence can indeed be a masterpiece in itself.

Would You Invest In Art?
Masterworks is taking on the billionaires at their own game, buying up paintings by world-class artists like Banksy and Picasso, and securitizing them for its investors.

When Masterworks sells a painting – like the 16 it's already sold – investors reap their portion of the net proceeds. Its investors have already received proceeds from more than $47 million in sales, realizing annualized net returns of 17.8%, 21.5%, 35%, and more.

Now, Masterworks wants to do the same thing for you. By qualifying every offering with the SEC, Masterworks makes it easy for everyday people to invest in multi-million dollar paintings. Offerings can sell out in just minutes, but as a trusted partner, Daily Dig readers can skip the waitlist to join here.

Meet Our DOTD - Quincy
When the snow piles up, it adds a bit of adventure to dog walks. This is Quincy on a snowy walk in Brooklyn, New York. This schnauzer loves a leisure walk in the neighborhood but doesn't always love wearing his protective booties. His owner, Justin, knows the importance of protecting Quincy's feet from the ice melt on the sidewalks. In addition to walks, Quincy loves watching squirrels from his balcony and has a strange habit of walking backward up the stairs. Thanks for sharing Justin!

5 Ways You Can Relax Your Pup
Ensuring your dog's well-being involves more than just providing food and shelter; it's essential to help them relax and destress. Here are five effective ways to achieve a calm and content canine companion.
  1. Regular Exercise: Just like humans, dogs benefit greatly from regular physical activity. Daily walks, playtime, and interactive games not only burn off excess energy but also stimulate their minds, contributing to a more relaxed demeanor.

  2. Create a Safe Space: Dogs appreciate having a designated, comfortable space they can retreat to when feeling overwhelmed. Provide a cozy bed or blanket in a quiet corner of your home, ensuring it remains a calm and secure environment.

  3. Massage and Gentle Petting: Dogs enjoy physical contact, and a gentle massage or soothing petting session can work wonders in promoting relaxation. Focus on areas like their neck, shoulders, and back, and observe how your dog responds to different types of touch.

  4. Calming Music or White Noise: Just as humans find comfort in soothing sounds, dogs can benefit from calming music or white noise. There are specially curated playlists designed to reduce anxiety in dogs, creating a serene atmosphere in your home.

  5. Routine and Consistency: Dogs thrive on routine and predictability. Establishing a consistent daily schedule for feeding, walks, and playtime helps your dog feel secure and reduces anxiety. Predictability creates a sense of structure that can be remarkably calming for your furry friend.

Incorporating these practices into your routine can contribute to a more relaxed and happy dog, fostering a strong bond between you and your canine companion. Remember that each dog is unique, so observe their preferences and adjust these relaxation techniques accordingly.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
