🐕 Dog's nose saves cat from 100 feet underground

"Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer."
- Dean Koontz

Saved By the Nose of a Dog
Michele Rose, a Cornwall resident, adopted two cats, Mowgli and Baloo, last December. She gradually introduced the cats to her dog, Daisy. Over time, Daisy became very matronly and protective over the kittens. She clearly viewed them as part of her family and loved them dearly.

When Mowgli went missing and was gone for six days, Rose started to lose hope that the cat would find its way home. However, Daisy wasn't ready to give up. Rose had her dog out near the old Prince of Wales mine works in Cornwall, and she quickly started going crazy. Daisy was leading Rose to an old opening in the mine when Rose realized that Daisy must be smelling the missing cat and trying to lead her to him.

Rose contacted the Cornwall Fire and Rescue service, but they couldn't do anything immediately due to the dark. The next morning, an animal rescue officer came out to the mines and spotted Mowgli about 100 feet down. Thankfully, her cat was not injured and they were able to pull Mowgli to safety.

Thanks to Daisy's persistence and her incredible nose, she was able to help her owner find the missing cat and reunite the whole pack. We can't imagine what a special homecoming Mowgli had.

Tips for Training Your Dog to Go Potty Outside
Potty training is a challenge for many new dog owners. It can be challenging for dogs to learn the difference between an outside patch of grass and your living room rug. With patience and positive reinforcement, you can help your dog learn. Here are four tips to get your training started:
  1. Use a bell. By showing your dog how to use a bell, you're giving them a tool to communicate with you when they need to go outside. Start by teaching the dog to touch the bell with their nose using treats. Then, show them that the bell means outside by rewarding them each time they ring the bell with a treat, and then immediately open the door. Make sure to give them a treat if they go to the bathroom outside.
  2. Get the timing right. Schedules are extremely helpful when it comes to training. Learn when your dog typically has to go to the bathroom. Watch for signs like sniffing the ground, pacing, or running away. You should also bring them outside after naps, eating, drinking, play, or training sessions, and after any stressful or scary events. Dogs should also go outside before being crated, going to sleep at night, guests coming over, or a vet visit.
  3. Remain positive. This process can be frustrating, but not scolding your dog is important. That will just make them want to hide more. Positive reinforcements for going to the bathroom outside will teach them that this is the behavior that you are looking for. Give them praise and treats, and they will learn.
  4. Clean, clean, clean. There will be accidents during the training period. It's important to clean up any accidents well and keep their space tidy and clean. Wash any beds or toys that may have been soaked accidentally, and remove pee pads as soon as they are used more than once.
It's helpful to stock up on some items before you start training. Pee pads are a helpful tool with puppies. Kennels, crates, or gates can help keep your dogs in one area while training and are easier to watch. Cleaning supplies should be on hand to clean up any accidents. And treats and toys are great to help reward your dog for good behavior. Good luck with your training!

How To Tell If Your Pup Is In A Good Mood
Ensuring your furry friend is happy and content is a priority for every pet owner. Understanding your pup's mood is crucial in providing the care and attention they need. Here are key indicators to tell if your pup is in a good mood:
  • Tail Wagging: A wagging tail is a classic sign of joy. The speed and height of the wag can provide more insights—high and fast may indicate excitement, while a slow wag suggests relaxation.

  • Ears Position: Pay attention to your pup's ears. In a natural, relaxed position, they are likely at ease. However, ears pinned back could signal fear or anxiety.

  • Eyes Expression: Bright and alert eyes convey happiness and engagement. Dull or squinting eyes might indicate discomfort.

  • Overall Demeanor: Observe your pup's general behavior. Playfulness, energy, and a willingness to interact are clear indications of a good mood. Behaviors like rolling onto their back for a belly rub or showing affection through licking also suggest contentment.

  • Individual Habits: Familiarize yourself with your pup's unique habits and preferences. Knowing these personalized cues will deepen your understanding of their emotional state.

By staying attuned to these signals, you can foster a strong bond and ensure your pup's well-being.

How To Boost Your Mood
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid-onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

Why You Should Save An Emergency Fund For Your Pup
Creating an emergency fund for your furry companion is a responsible and caring investment in their well-being. Much like humans, pets can encounter unexpected health issues or accidents, leading to hefty veterinary bills. Here's why having an emergency fund for your pup is essential:

1. Unforeseen Medical Expenses: Pets, just like humans, can face sudden health crises. From accidents to unexpected illnesses, veterinary care can become expensive. Having an emergency fund ensures you can promptly provide necessary medical attention without compromising on your pup's health.

2. Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have a financial safety net specifically designated for your pup's emergencies brings peace of mind. It allows you to focus on their recovery rather than worrying about how to cover unexpected expenses.

3. Timely Treatment: In emergencies, swift action is often crucial. With a dedicated fund, you can make decisions based on what is best for your pup's health rather than financial constraints. This ensures timely and appropriate treatment, potentially saving your pet's life.

4. Preparedness for the Unexpected: Life is unpredictable, and emergencies can happen at any time. An emergency fund for your pup is a proactive approach to handling unforeseen circumstances, offering a sense of preparedness for the unexpected twists and turns in your pet's health journey.

By establishing and maintaining an emergency fund, you are not only demonstrating responsible pet ownership but also ensuring that your beloved companion receives the care they deserve, regardless of the financial challenges that may arise.
