🐕 How the Bond Between is helping Minnesota animals

"Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in." - Mark Twain

Happy Tuesday! Here's the scoop:
Did You Know...?
Joke: What's a dog's favorite hobby?

Celebrity Dog Trainer Works to Give Back
Travis Borsen is a Los Angeles-based dog trainer. He rose to fame after winning "The Greatest American Dog" on Animal Planet. Nowadays, Borsen travels the country with his well-trained dog, Chip, and meets with children of all ages.

Borsen had an idea for "character traits lessons" and worked on it while competing on the show. He highlights all the important lessons that can be learned by training a dog. Now, he tours different schools where children can learn by watching him solve "challenges" with his dog. They can see him applying virtues like trust and respect as Chip won't complete tricks unless Borsen says please and thank you.

Chip and Borsen have an incredible bond, and they showcase some really cool tricks while focusing on bigger lessons that children can use in their everyday lives. It's been ten years on the road, and we hope they continue spreading these positive messages to children nationwide!

The Bond Between Works Hard to Save Minneapolis Animals
The Bond Between was originally founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The organization changed its name to emphasize its focus on the bond between humans and animals, which is so important. It has grown from a rescue to a first-in-class animal well-being organization. They offer safe shelter, veterinary care, and all the daily necessities for animals. At the same time, they work on building bonds between the animals and humans with their pet food shelf, respite foster care, and social services.

For people in Minneapolis and surrounding areas, you can partner with The Bond Between and throw puppy parties or adoption events. The organization will bring animals to your event to hang out with humans and maybe even find their forever home. You can also check out their adoptable animals on the website.

Not only does the Bond Between work with animals in the Twin Cities, but they have a tribal partnership program. Volunteers work with the Tribal Partners from Little Earth of United Tribes, Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Anishinaabe, and Awesiinyag to both provide healthcare to animals in their communities and learn from their traditions and wisdom. There are also programs for dogs who need end-of-life care, dogs with special medical needs, and even a neonatal program

This organization works hard to build, support, and reinforce bonds between animals and people. It covers such a huge range of local needs. We love to see such great community involvement!

Warm Up Your Pup's Winter With Baking!
Why not spoil your pup and bake them a tasty treat they'll be sure to love! Here is how to make paw-fectly delicious Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Cupcakes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup unsalted natural peanut butter (make sure it doesn't contain xylitol, as it's toxic to dogs)
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots (optional, for added nutrition)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a cupcake tin with cupcake liners.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and rolled oats.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the peanut butter, mashed banana, vegetable oil, applesauce, and eggs until well combined. If you're adding shredded carrots, mix them in as well.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before serving them to your furry friend.

Optional: You can top the cupcakes with a small amount of plain yogurt or cream cheese as a dog-friendly frosting.

Remember to check with your vet if your dog has any specific dietary restrictions or allergies before introducing new treats into their diet. Enjoy baking for your canine companion!

Make Your Own Dog Bandana
Dress your dog up for any special occasion by making them a custom dog bandana. This DIY project is quick and easy, so any dog owner with the right materials can try it.

First, you need to choose fabric. You can find something that fits the season or maybe pick a color that looks great on your pup. Two six-inch squares of the same material are good to start for a small dog—size up depending on how big you want the bandana to be.

Next, put the two squares together with the right sides touching, sew three sides of the squares together, and then sew part of the final side. Leave an opening to flip it right side out.

Last, fold over the unsewn edge to have a smooth seem. Sew it down, and that will be the place the collar can loop through.

Make sure to send us a picture if you make your own dog bandana for any special occasions this year!

Invest In Your Pup's Future
Investing in your pup's future goes beyond providing food and shelter; it involves fostering a healthy and fulfilling life for your furry friend. Here are some tips to ensure a bright and happy future for your beloved canine companion:
  • Prioritize Preventive Healthcare: Regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and dental care contribute to a longer and healthier life for your pup. Quality nutrition tailored to their specific needs is also crucial.

  • Stimulate Their Mind and Body: Enrich your pup's environment with toys, puzzles, and interactive play to keep their minds sharp and bodies active. Regular exercise, such as daily walks and engaging in dog sports, is vital.

  • Invest in Training: Basic commands and positive reinforcement strengthen your bond and ensure a well-behaved companion. Consider enrolling in obedience classes or hiring a professional trainer if needed.

  • Financial Planning: Unexpected veterinary expenses can arise, so having a pet insurance policy or a dedicated savings fund can provide peace of mind.

  • Create Cherished Memories: Dogs thrive on love and companionship, so dedicate quality time for cuddles, play, and exploration. Building a strong emotional connection ensures a happy and fulfilling life for your pup.

By incorporating these tips into your pup's routine, you're not just meeting their immediate needs but making a long-term investment in their well-being and happiness.

Invest In Your Future, Bottle Your Wealth
American Single Malt is a brand new classification of whiskey, created by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau in the summer of 2022. The new classification now allows US whiskey brands to market themselves as competitors to Scotch.

The new classification has resulted in a flurry of brands trying to release their own Single Malt offerings. However, the process for making single malt is different than bourbon and there currently isn't enough single malt distilling infrastructure in the US to meet the new demand.

You can now profit off this trend: Vinovest enables you to invest in new make American Single Malt before it's matured and sold to brands. Vinovest will take care of storage, insurance, and eventual selling of your whiskey.

It's time to bottle your wealth. Get started in under 5 minutes at Vinovest.co.
