Ten On-Screen Dogs We Love
Dogs help bring a special and ireeplacable cute factor to our favorite movies and television shows, but sadly, they rarely get the awards and recognition that they deserve. Let's give them the love that their performances earned and celebrate these ten favorite on-screen dogs. Check out these crowd favorites that moviegoers absolutely fell in love with.
  1. Marley from "Marley & Me" - This Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson movie was adapted from a bestselling book. It features a troublemaking, but lovable, golden retriever that was adopted by a couple and spends years as an important part of the family.
  2. Bruiser from "Legally Blonde" - This loyal chihuahua accompanies her owner, Elle Woods, to Harvard to prove that you cannot judge a book by its cover. He helps her through all life's ups and downs.
  3. Petey from "The Little Rascals" - This American bulldog tags along with the gag of young boys when they visit their clubhouse and head out on adventures. He's very recognizable due to the unique circle that surrounds his eye.
  4. Sam from "I Am Legend" - Will Smith plays Robert Neville, the only person left alive in NYC. Sam is his German Shepherd, keeping him company during this challenging time.
  5. Puffy from "There's Something About Mary" - This 90s favorite follows Ted while he tries to win the affection of his former crush, Mary. Puffy is a border terrier who helps provide even more comedic relief to an already hilarious movie.
  6. Toto from "Wizard of Oz" - This iconic dog sidekick might be one of the most famous of all time. He goes along on a wild adventure with Dorothy while they try to make their way home to Kansas.
  7. Max from "The Grinch" - It's not easy to be the Grinch's sidekick, but Max is always seen wagging his tail. He tries to steer the Grinch towards doing the right thing, even when it seems impossible.
  8. Bolt from "Bolt" - In this movie, the main character is a dog named Bolt who goes on a journey to be reunited with his owner, Penny. He's a movie star who struggles with the difference between real life and film sets, but with some help from his trusty sidekicks, he finally finds clarity.
  9. Buddy from "Air Bud" - This Golden Retriever is adopted, and his owner, Josh, discovers that the dog is an incredible basketball player. Buddy's old owner tries to steal him back after he becomes famous, and Josh has to step in to save him.
  10. Scooby from "Scooby-Doo" - In the 1960s, this cartoon was wildly popular. Scooby helps the humans solve mysteries and stay out of trouble.
Was your favorite movie dog on this list? There are so many excellent canine characters on-screen, so capturing them all in one list is impossible. Hopefully, this list gave you some new movies to check out.

Hobie Wins People's Cutest Rescue Dog of 2023
People Magazine holds a World's Cutest Rescue Dog Contest each year, allowing readers to vote for their favorites. This year, Hobie won the prize. He is a terrier mix that has just one eye. Hobie was adopted by a couple who had just moved from Boston to Southern California. They were in search of another dog to help complete their family, and luckily Hobie came around at just the perfect time.

Hobie was rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. He had severe glaucoma in one eye, and it eventually had to be removed. While at the shelter, he made best friends with the resident rabbit, so now, his new owners take him back to visit once a month.

Hobie resembles an adorable teddy bear. Obviously, People's readers agreed because thousands voted this five-year-old terrier as World's Cutest Rescue Dog. As his prize, he will receive a year's supply of pet food and a $1,000 donation to the animal rescue of his choice. The family chose the rescue that Hobie came from, PUP Laguna Beach.

Follow Hobie's adventures on his Instagram account. And if you have a rescue pup, make sure to submit your photos for the 2024 competition on People!

Puppy Potty Training on an Expert Level
If you've ever brought home a puppy, you are familiar with the challenges of potty training. It can be exhausting and frustrating, but it's obviously necessary. This owner was absolutely shocked when his dog really took potty training to the next level.

This California man came downstairs in the morning and found that his child had gone to the bathroom in the training toilet. After thinking it was weird that his wife would not have cleaned it out, he realized upon review of the home camera footage that it wasn't the toddler using the toilet.

His pup had been observing the toddler use the potty and decided to try it out himself. He circled the potty a few times and then squatted and pooped right into the toilet. Even if it was a one-time thing, it's pretty impressive that this dog picked up on this routine! Watch the full video to see what the owner saw.

  • 🐢 DOTD: Give your pup the spotlight by submitting them for the dog of the day! This month's theme is dogs in the winter. This could be anything from your pup playing in the snow, to your pup cozily curled up inside.
