Did You Know...?
Joke: What do you call a large dog that meditates?

Would You Jump on This Trend?
Have you heard of the name shooting up the popular dog name's list? The name skyrocketing up the list is, hilariously, "Kelce." The name recently emerged as the top trending dog name in America. We know that Taylor Swift was named Time Person of the Year, and apparently her boyfriend's name now may be dog name of the year! We call that a power couple if we must say so ourselves.

As funny as the "on the map" trend is, it appears Kelce's popularity might not all be because of Taylor Swift. The Kelce brothers, Jason and Travis, are both Super Bowl champions and have a chart-topping podcast. Jason was even featured in an Amazon Prime documentary called Kelce showcasing his 2022 season, and it's one of the most-viewed shows on Prime.

Travis has admitted to being more of a dog person than a cat person, and we have to wonder how Taylor, a famous cat mom, feels about him making that public statement. Here at Daily Dig, we love all the animals and and have one question for you: Would you use the name Kelce for your pup?

Use Essential Oils Safely Around Your Pet
Essential oils are used for many natural remedies and calming rituals, but can be dangerous for animals in certain circumstances. Essential oils have not been studied in depth, so there is no complete list of what is safe, but there are several that we know are toxic to dogs and cats. Avoid cinnamon, eucalyptus, pennyroyal, pine, sweet birch, tea tree, and wintergreen.

You can safely use essential oils around dogs if you're careful. Oils should never be put directly on your dog's skin or in their mouth. Instead, use them in a diffuser or the laundry. Some of the safest oils for dogs are:
  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Myrrh
  • Ginger
  • Rosemary
  • Bergamot
  • Frankincense
Keep all the bottles and supplies in a safe place where your pet cannot reach them. When using a diffuser, make sure to find one that is pet-friendly. Some emit droplets of the oils into the air instead of just the scent.

Some people utilize essential oils for specific health conditions or calming benefits in pets. If you are interested in exploring more uses for your animals, talk to your vet. Even with the safe oils, there are sometimes specific applications that you should avoid, and information about the concentration of the oils is essential. Animals tend to be much more sensitive to these than humans. We love learning new ways to improve our pets' lives, but only when it's safe and healthy!

What Supplements Are Good For Dogs?
Ensuring your canine companion's optimal health involves more than just a balanced diet and regular exercise; sometimes, supplements can play a crucial role in supporting their well-being. When considering supplements for your dog, it's essential to consult with a veterinarian to tailor a regimen based on your pet's specific needs.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Renowned for their anti-inflammatory properties, omega-3 fatty acids can benefit dogs with joint issues or skin conditions. Fish oil supplements are a popular choice, promoting a shiny coat and reducing inflammation.

  • Glucosamine and Chondroitin: Excellent supplements for joint health, particularly in senior dogs or those prone to arthritis. These compounds support cartilage health, enhancing mobility and reducing discomfort.

  • Probiotics: Gaining popularity in the pet care realm, probiotics support a healthy gut microbiome. These beneficial bacteria aid digestion and boost the immune system, crucial for overall wellness.

  • Antioxidants (Vitamins C and E): These nutrients can help neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and contributing to a dog's longevity.

However, not all dogs require the same supplements, and excess intake can lead to adverse effects. Tailoring a supplement regimen to your dog's specific needs, age, and health status is vital. Always consult with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplements to your dog's diet, ensuring a tailored approach to their unique health requirements.

Would You Buy Art From A Dog?
Dogs, known for their loyalty and companionship, are now making their mark in the art world by trying their paws at painting. This unique and entertaining endeavor not only showcases their creativity but also serves as a delightful expression of their playful nature.

Artistic collaborations between dogs and their owners have gained attention, with canines dipping their paws into non-toxic, washable paints and then creating abstract masterpieces on canvases. Guided by encouragement and treats, dogs seem to revel in the process, wagging their tails as they explore the vibrant world of colors.

These doggy paintings often reflect the canine's personality and energy, capturing the essence of their joyful spirits. Some artists even claim that the unpredictable movements of the dogs result in dynamic and one-of-a-kind artworks, adding an element of surprise to the creative process.

Beyond the novelty, these canine creations also serve a charitable purpose, with some art events featuring dog-painted canvases being auctioned to raise funds for animal welfare organizations. The combination of artistic expression, entertainment, and philanthropy has turned doggy painting into a heartwarming trend that not only celebrates the bond between humans and their furry friends but also showcases the unexpected talents of our four-legged companions in the world of art.
Would You Invest In Art?
When the painting by master Claude Monet (you may have heard of him) was bought for $6.8 million and sold for a cool $8 million just 631 days later, investors in shares of the offering received their share of the net proceeds.

All thanks to Masterworks, the award-winning platform for investing in blue-chip art. To date, every one of Masterworks' 16 sales out of its portfolio has returned a profit to investors. With 3 recent sales, investors realized net annualized returns of 17.6%, 21.5% and 35%.

How does it work? Simple, Masterworks files each offering with the SEC so that nearly anyone can invest in highly coveted artworks for just a fraction of the price of the entire piece.

Shares of every offering are limited, but Daily Dig readers can skip the waitlist with this exclusive link.
