πŸ• Prep for Mother's Day with a DIY gift

"Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog, it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs, your heart is very big."
- Erica Jong

Did You Know...?
Joke: Why do dogs make terrible dance partners?

(scroll to the bottom to find the answer!)
Do Dogs Remember Their Canine Mothers?
Puppies don't live alongside their mother for long. They are usually separated at around three months old, but in the time leading up to that separation, the pups rely on their moms for food and safety. There is a bond that is formed.

Research suggests that dogs likely remember their parents for up to two years after separation. Dogs are social animals and follow a pack hierarchy naturally. Their concept of memory is different from that of humans, but some do remember their mothers for a period of time. Puppies can pick up on their mothers' smell and use it to recognize them if they meet later.

While dogs might not remember much after two years, their scent remains familiar. If you give a dog a blanket with their mother's scent on it, they may sniff it longer and try to place it in their memories. We are just grateful for all the dog moms out there who brought our pups into this world!
Do(g)-It-Yourself Craft for Mother's Day
Want to celebrate that special dog mom in your life? This easy last-minute gift would be the perfect way to show the mom in your dog's life how much she is loved and appreciated. These Pawsome Blossoms are adorable, take very little time, and she can show them off at her office or on the fridge.

Pawsome Blossoms
You'll need: A canvas or piece of paper, green acrylic paint, another acrylic paint color of your choice, a paintbrush, a sharpie, a bowl of water, and paper towels
  1. Start by placing some acrylic paint on your pet's paws. If there is a lot of hair, you might want to trim it to keep the print clean.
  2. Press their paws carefully on the canvas or paper to make the flowers. Add as many flowers as you want.
  3. Clean your dog's paws off and let them relax while you add the finishing touches.
  4. Use the green to add stems and leaves.
  5. Let the paint dry, and use the Sharpie to add any finishing touches you want.
Simple as that. You're all set. Put it in a frame or add a card and present it to the mom in your dog's life for Mother's Day.
Tips for Finding Affordable Coverage for Your Furry Friend
Pet insurance can provide valuable financial protection for unexpected veterinary expenses, but the cost of coverage can vary widely. Finding affordable pet insurance that still offers comprehensive coverage is essential for responsible pet ownership. Here are some tips to help you save money while ensuring your furry friend receives the care they need.
  1. Shop Around for Quotes:

    • Don't settle for the first pet insurance policy you come across. Take the time to compare quotes from multiple providers.
    • Use online comparison tools or work directly with insurance agents to gather quotes tailored to your pet's breed, age, and health history.
    • Look for discounts or special offers that could lower your premium.
  2. Consider a Higher Deductible:

    • Opting for a higher deductible can significantly reduce your monthly premium.
    • Evaluate your budget and risk tolerance to determine the highest deductible you can comfortably afford.
    • Keep in mind that while a higher deductible may mean lower monthly payments, you'll need to pay more out of pocket before insurance kicks in.
  3. Look for Multi-Pet Discounts:

    • If you have multiple pets, inquire about multi-pet discounts.
    • Many insurance companies offer reduced rates when you insure more than one pet under the same policy.
    • Consolidating coverage for all your pets with a single provider can simplify administration and potentially save you money.
  4. Ask About Payment Options:

    • Inquire about flexible payment options that align with your budget.
    • Some insurance companies offer discounts for annual or semi-annual payments.
    • Look for policies with no interest payment plans or discounts for setting up automatic payments.
  5. Review Policy Renewal Terms:

    • Before committing to a pet insurance policy, review the renewal terms carefully.
    • Look for policies with guaranteed renewable coverage, ensuring your pet remains eligible for coverage regardless of age or health status.
    • Be aware of any potential premium increases upon renewal and factor them into your long-term budgeting.

Have You Seen This Trend Online Yet?
There have been countless videos going around where people point out obvious traits that come with being from a certain place or part of a certain group. This woman took the trend and made it about being a pet parent.

She points out that, of course, she thinks about the consistency of her dog's poop and just stares at him throughout the day for no reason. It all seems incredibly relatable. Watch the video and see for yourself!
5 Ways Dogs Improve Our Mood
  1. Unconditional Love and Affection: Dogs offer unwavering love and affection, regardless of our circumstances or moods. Their wagging tails, eager greetings, and cuddles provide a constant source of comfort and reassurance, lifting our spirits and fostering a sense of emotional connection.

  2. Stress Reduction: Interacting with dogs has been shown to reduce stress levels by triggering the release of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and relaxation. Spending time with a dog, whether it's petting, playing, or simply being in their presence, can help alleviate tension and promote a sense of calmness and well-being.

  3. Physical Activity and Exercise: Dogs encourage physical activity through daily walks, play sessions, and outdoor adventures. Regular exercise not only benefits our physical health but also boosts mood by releasing endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. Whether it's a brisk walk in the park or a game of fetch in the backyard, dogs inspire us to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.

  4. Social Connection: Dogs are natural icebreakers and conversation starters, facilitating social interactions and fostering a sense of community. Whether we're out for a walk with our furry friend or attending a dog-friendly event, dogs create opportunities for socializing and connecting with others who share a love for animals. These social interactions can combat feelings of loneliness and enhance our overall mood.

  5. Sense of Purpose and Responsibility: Caring for a dog provides a sense of purpose and responsibility, which can be deeply fulfilling and rewarding. Dogs rely on us for their basic needs, such as food, shelter, and companionship, motivating us to prioritize their well-being and maintain a routine. The act of caring for another living being can instill a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, contributing to a more positive mood and sense of fulfillment.

Another Way To Boost Your Mood
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid-onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
