πŸ• Is your pup itchy?

"You do not own a dog. You have a dog. And the dog has you."

Happy Tuesday! Here's the scoop:
Did You Know...?
What makes a dog's eyebrow different than other mammals?

Nervous Pup Makes An Unlikely Friend
Greenside Animal Hospital picked up Ginger when he was soaked to the bone outside in a storm. The hospital had no information about the dog, so they placed him in the isolation ward. He was only around ten weeks old and terribly frightened of being in a strange place. It was clear he wasn't used to anyone tending to him.

Ginger takes a bit to warm up to people, but with food, he will come out of his shell a bit. It was good that he had the isolation ward to himself, except for Anne, a kitten who was brought in after being found alone in a bush at a neighboring sports club. Dogs and cats are typically kept apart, except for the isolation ward.

Ginger and Anne were kept apart on opposite sides of the room. The staff was shocked to find the kitten's crate empty one day. They found Anne snuggled up next to Ginger in his crate. The staff instantly saw how gentle the dog was with the kitten. They attempted to keep them separated, but the duo would find ways to be together. It became clear that they were helping each other recover and gain strength. We love to see dogs and cats supporting each other.
Got An Itchy Pup? Try These Home Remedies
When a dog has itchy skin, it's typically a symptom of something else. It's always best to work with your vet to determine the underlying issues. Itchy skin could come from fleas, allergies, dry skin, ringworm, bacterial infections, anxiety, or more. Once your vet diagnoses the issues and starts treatment, you can help relieve the itch while they heal. Here are a few remedies you probably already have at home:
  1. Oatmeal - Ground the oats into a fine powder and add it to a warm bath. A nice 10-15 minute soak will help soothe the dog's skin.
  2. Coconut Oil - Applying this oil directly to a dog's skin will help alleviate dryness and itchiness. Start with just a tiny bit to make sure their skin doesn't react.
  3. Aloe Vera - This healing serum can be great for the skin, but it's important to note that it is toxic for dogs to ingest. Keep it away from their mouth because it causes vomiting and diarrhea.
  4. Apple Cider Vinegar - This liquid can be soothing and helpful on itchy skin, but it will sting if applied to broken skin. Avoid ears, eyes, or genital area. Add it in equal parts with water to a spray bottle and apply to the itchy patches.
  5. Chamomile Tea - This is antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, so it's beneficial to soothe and prevent. You can put a chilled compress on their skin or add a few tea bags to a bathtub.
As always, check with your vet if you have any questions and follow the treatment plan they lay out in addition to any home remedies.
Invest Before This Company Becomes a Household Name
What if you had the opportunity to invest in the biggest electronics products before they launched into big box retail, would you?

Ring changed doorbells and Nest changed thermostats. Early investors in these companies earned massive returns, but the opportunity to invest was limited to a select, wealthy few. Not anymore. RYSE has just launched in 100+ Best Buy stores, and you're in luck — you can still invest at only $1.50/share before their name becomes known nationwide.

They have patented the only mass-market shade automation device, and their exclusive deal with Best Buy resembles that which led Ring and Nest to their billion-dollar buyouts.

DIY Shampoo for Itchy Dogs
One way to help your dog stop itching is with a nice bath. You can make your own soothing shampoo to help balance your dog's skin pH levels and remove dirt and grime. This recipe is simple and easy, so make a batch and keep it in your bathroom for bathtime.

Homemade Oatmeal Shampoo
You'll need: 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of baking soda, 4 cups of warm water, 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, dog-safe essential oils (optional), and a bottle for storage
  1. Use a food processor to grind the oatmeal down to a flour-like consistency.
  2. Mix in the baking soda.
  3. Add warm water and dishwashing liquid and gently mix until you get an even consistency.
  4. Add to the bottle.
