πŸ• A Paw-fect Proposal πŸ’

"Did you know what there are over 300 words for love in canine?"

Happy Thursday! Here's the scoop:
Did You Know...?
What percentage of people included their furry friends in their weddings in 2020?

(scroll to the bottom to find the answer!)
This Doodle Got a Little Jealous and Wanted In
Wedding proposals are typically between two people, and maybe that's a good thing in some situations. This San Diego couple was trying to enjoy their special moment when the dog got a little confused and decided to involve himself in the situation.

As the man got down on one knee, the Goldendoodle got extra excited and almost got the ring in his mouth. Thankfully, the man was on top of the situation and grabbed the ring before the dog could take off with it. He was able to jump back into the special moment and the dog's mom understood the entire time that the proposal was meant for her.

It's a great memory now for all three of them. They got a memorable video featuring the entire family, and the dog didn't have to feel left out of a life-changing moment!
How to Include Your Pup in Your Special Proposal
The last story could have deterred a few people from including their dog in a magical proposal moment, but many people do want to have that special moment with their four-legged family members present. If you are planning a proposal and want to include your dog, there are a few ideas to help you do this successfully.
  1. Use your dog as the ring carrier. If your dog is well-trained, you could use them to carry the ring for you. Attach it to their collar using a ring box or small container, and make sure to keep a close eye on them so nothing gets lost.
  2. Present a puppy with a proposal. Adding a dog to your family is a huge step, so some people want to make it a special double surprise. Pop the question the same day you bring your puppy home to join the family.
  3. Let your dog ask for you. If you don't want the dog to hold the ring itself, you can make a little sign or note that asks the question for you and let your dog present it.
  4. Dress up your pup. Make the event special with some accessories or a new outfit. There are so many options to help your dog dress up and look the part for a very special moment.
Do You Speak Fluent Dog?
What does your dog's body language really mean? Read on to find out...

  • Eye Contact: Direct eye contact can be a sign of dominance or aggression, while avoiding eye contact may signal fear or submission.
  • Body Posture: A relaxed and loose posture indicates comfort, while a tense or stiff body suggests stress or aggression.
  • Yawning: Excessive yawning can be a stress signal in dogs.
  • Licking Lips: Licking lips or nose can indicate anxiety or discomfort.

Don't Forget to Check With The Dog First
When you're getting ready to pop the question and ask your significant other to marry you, it's traditional to ask for the permission of the bride's father. But you may want to think outside the box a little, like the person filming this video. He felt like it was extremely important to get permission from the other most important creature in his girlfriend's life.

Obviously, his idea worked. The dog shook on it and he was able to pop the question without worrying that the dog would foil the whole plan. We think it's brilliant to check in with the real boss of the family before asking for anyone's hand in marriage.
Collagen Infused Dog Treats: Recipe Below!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup collagen powder (ensure it's specifically designed for dogs)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup unsalted peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, oats, and collagen powder. Mix well.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, peanut butter, water, and egg until smooth.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.

  5. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough. Place the treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each treat.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.

  8. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack.

  9. Once cooled, store the collagen-infused dog treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.

These treats can be given to your furry friend as an occasional snack to support their skin, coat, and joint health. Remember to consult with your veterinarian before introducing new treats into your dog's diet, especially if they have any dietary restrictions or health concerns.
