πŸ• Grandma always gives the best gifts

"I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if we weren't certain we knew better."
- George Bird Evans

Happy Thursday! Here's the scoop:
Did You Know...?
Joke: Why do dogs never seem to age?

Grandma's Give the Best Presents
Hadley is one lucky dog. One morning, she left her house with her owner, Holly, and they found a gigantic teddy bear sitting in the driveway. Hadley was ecstatic, but Holly couldn't figure out where this enormous stuffed animal came from. Holly and her family spent hours trying to solve the mystery with no luck.

The bear was such a hit that Hadley wanted to bring it along on a car ride and for all the day's activities. The entire episode was pretty funny because this bear was almost too big to fit in the car. Hadley stuffed it in and then had a challenging time jumping in with it. Holly loved seeing the comical pair.

The mystery was solved when Holly found out it was her grandmother who left the surprise for her dog. She had noticed how much Hadley loved stuffed animals and always had one to carry around, and she knew the dog would love the big bear.
Puppy Eyes Are Part of Evolution
All dog owners have likely seen the moment that their dog looks at them with puppy dog eyes, and it instantly melts the heart. That's no coincidence. Dogs have been conditioned over thousands of years of evolution, just like humans. It's one aspect of the dog-human bond that has developed over time.

Anthropologists have been studying dogs and how they interact with humans over time. Ann Burrows is a lead researcher in this field, and she has been investigating how dogs have evolved to express themselves to humans.

The study's focus has been on how dogs communicate with humans through their facial expressions. Dogs are constantly looking at humans. They watch us closely and try to learn from our body language and expressions. Humans react when dogs have friendlier faces, which likely leads to the puppy dog's eyes.

Burrows will be continuing her studies on these relationships. Next, they will look at the facial muscles of ancient dog breeds, like huskies and malamutes, and compare them to wolves. The goal is to determine how the relationship with humans turned wolves into dogs.
Nutrition For Stress Relief In Your Pup
Nutritional interventions play a crucial role in alleviating stress in dogs, influencing their overall well-being and behavior. Incorporating the right foods into your dog's diet can mitigate stress levels and promote a sense of calm. First and foremost, prioritize high-quality, balanced diets rich in essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. These nutrients support cognitive function and emotional stability, crucial for managing stress.

Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil or flaxseed, possess anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce anxiety and promote brain health in dogs. Additionally, vitamins like B-complex vitamins and vitamin C support the nervous system and strengthen the body's response to stressors.

On the other hand, certain ingredients can exacerbate stress in dogs and should be avoided. High levels of refined sugars, found in some commercial treats and foods, can lead to energy spikes and crashes, contributing to anxiety. Similarly, foods containing excessive preservatives, artificial flavors, and colors may trigger allergic reactions or digestive issues, further adding to a dog's stress burden.

In conclusion, choosing a diet tailored to your dog's nutritional needs can significantly impact their stress levels. Consult with a veterinarian to design a balanced diet plan that supports your dog's emotional and physical health, helping them lead a happier, more relaxed life.

Do You See Dogs or Bunnies?
These two Dachshunds do not seem very interested in their outfits but have been bribed with carrots. We are so thankful because it means we get this adorable video, and no sausage dogs were harmed in the making. Nothing says spring is here like a bunny costume.
How To Tell Your Dogs Mood
Understanding your dog's mood is crucial for maintaining a harmonious relationship and ensuring their well-being. While our furry companions can't speak, they communicate through body language, vocalizations, and behaviors. Here's how you can decode your dog's mood:
Body Language: Pay attention to your dog's posture. A relaxed dog will have a loose body with a wagging tail, while an anxious or fearful dog might cower with their tail tucked between their legs. Erect ears indicate alertness, while flattened ears suggest fear or submission.

Facial Expressions: Dogs can convey a lot through their facial expressions. A happy dog will have a relaxed mouth with a slightly open jaw and relaxed eyes. Conversely, a stressed dog may pant excessively or show teeth as a sign of aggression.

Vocalizations: Different barks, whines, and growls can indicate various emotions. A high-pitched bark may signify excitement or playfulness, while a low, continuous growl could signal aggression or discomfort.

Behavioral Cues: Changes in your dog's routine behaviors can also indicate shifts in mood. For example, excessive licking or chewing may suggest anxiety, while a sudden loss of appetite could signal illness or distress.

By observing these subtle cues, you can better understand your dog's emotions and respond accordingly, whether it's offering comfort, providing space, or seeking professional help if needed. Building this understanding strengthens the bond between you and your canine companion, fostering a happier and healthier relationship.

Boost Your Mood
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid-onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
