These Breeds Make Great Napping Partners
Dogs are fun adventure partners, but not all breeds are filled with endless amounts of energy. If you are a homebody and looking for a dog that will be happy to just curl up next to you for some afternoon naps, these breeds might be the perfect match. Each dog has its own needs and personality, so there's no guarantee that these breeds will be totally relaxed, but there's generally a calmer disposition with these pups.
  1. French Bulldog - It's clear why this breed is so popular. They are adorable and cuddly, and they love being around their humans.
  2. Standard Poodle - This hypoallergenic dog is both smart and mellow. They are eager to please but might need more exercise than other dogs on this list.
  3. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - It's impossible to ignore this dog's beautiful puppy dog eyes. They are friendly and love to be with their owners as much as possible.
  4. Basset Hound - This is a medium-sized dog with giant floppy ears. They are one of the calmest dogs and love to power nap, especially after walks.
  5. Irish Wolfhound - This large breed is great with children because they are chill. You'll be best with a large secured yard for them to explore.
  6. Saint Bernard - This gentle giant is good-natured and lovable. They love a leisurely walk and then will be happy to nap away the day.
  7. Xoloitzcuintli - This hairless dog is quiet and attentive. They love attention and will happily hang by your side.
  8. Newfoundland - Known for being a great family dog, this breed is enormous, but they are laid-back gentle dogs with a calm demeanor.
  9. Bulldog - These silly pups have to lounge around on the couch. They require a little extra grooming care for their wrinkles, but they are friendly and great for any size home.
  10. Golden Retriever - Goldens have a cheerful disposition and they love to meet people, but they will also enjoy a nice nap with their favorite humans.
  11. Greyhound - These dogs are known for their speed, but most of the time, they are very calm and chill. They love a slow, sniff-based walk and then some snuggle time.
  12. Labrador Retriever - There's a reason this breed is typically at the top of the most popular breed lists. They are easy to train and eager to please, so they will be happy to lie down and nap with you.
  13. Pug - These pups love a little mischief, but they love being around people and will be happy to be showered with pets and affection.
Is It Normal for Dogs to Sleep All Day?
Dogs need a lot of sleep! The average pup sleeps around 12 to 14 hours a day. A few different factors play into how much sleep your dog needs. Age, breed, and activity level all have an impact. As dogs get older, they will take more naps each day and they will sleep longer at night.

Another factor is the frequency of meals. Dogs who were fed twice a day took fewer naps during the day, but they lasted longer. They also fall asleep earlier at night, but wake up earlier in the morning as well.

Dogs have a more scattered sleep pattern than humans. Their instincts tell them to wake up, check their environment, and look for any dangers. They also get into REM sleep faster than humans.

It's perfectly normal for your dog to sleep half of the day as long as they are getting a proper amount of exercise and enrichment. If there are sudden changes in your pet's sleeping patterns, it's important to talk to your vet to make sure there aren't underlying health issues. Dogs should be easy to wake up, especially with their favorite activities or treats.

Dogs can suffer from sleep disorders. If they are sleep-deprived, they may act out or even become aggressive. Some illnesses and injuries make sleep difficult for dogs. Anxiety can also cause disruptions in sleep. Sometimes, a lack of exercise can make it difficult for dogs to sleep. It's important to make sure your pup is getting daily walks and playtime. With enough activity, your dog will be able to get the sleep they need.
This New Toilet Paper Just Might Save the Planet
Every 24 hours, 27,000 trees are cut down to make toilet paper. To us, that feels like way too many — and Honeycomb agrees. That's why this small, female-founded brand created luxury, three-ply toilet tissue made from bamboo. It feels just like regular high-end toilet paper, but doesn't harm trees.

So why bamboo? It's the fastest-growing plant in the world — growing 100 times faster than the average tree — which means thousands of rolls can be produced in the time it takes for a single tree to grow back.

And since Earth Day was earlier this week, code DIG30 is still valid for new customers to get 30% off their first order until midnight.

Huge Dog, Teeny Tiny Bed
Great Danes are one of the largest breeds of dog. This giant guy just wants to take a nap, but the only bed available is just a few sizes too small. Watch the adorable video of him working hard to curl up and get comfortable. Hopefully someone finds him a larger bed that fits him a bit better.
