πŸ• Find out the most popular dog breed in each state

"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog."
- Edward Hoagland

Happy Friday! Here's the scoop:
Did You Know...?
How many states have German Shepherds as the most popular breed?

Things a Chinese Crested Owner Will Understand
The Chinese Crested breed is sometimes well-known for its looks. These hairless dogs have been crowned the "ugliest dog," probably more than any other breed, but to know them is to love them. If you own a Chinese Crested, you'll likely nod your head at these facts specific to this special breed.
  1. Sunscreen is important for their hairless bodies, plus it gives you an excuse to bond with your pup.
  2. Your pup might have a better hair day than you. Let that fan blow to give them a moment.
  3. The fuzz on their feet is often mistaken for lint, but it's attached.
  4. Sweatbands are a great accessory for your dog. These pups can actually break a sweat, so you can buy matching ones with them.
  5. The unique looks of this breed give a new meaning to the phrase "a face only a mother can love."
  6. People with a Chinese Crested will likely have to answer the question, "So, what is your dog?" more than others.
  7. Sweaters are great for this dog because they can use a little help staying warm.
  8. These dogs are incredibly loyal and devoted to their owners.
We don't know about you, but we love this breed. Their quirky looks and fierce love for their people make it clear why others love them, too.
The Most Popular Breeds in the States
Each year, the US and World News conducts surveys to determine which dog breeds are the most popular. While there is a little bit of movement from year to year, the breeds that don't make the cut do not change much. The five most popular breeds include the Chihuahua, French Bulldog, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, and Shih Tzu.

The survey also breaks it down for each state, and there is a bit of a variety in those results. Wide-open states, like Montana and Alaska, choose a German Shepherd, while some of the states with larger cities and more apartment dwellers choose smaller dogs, like a Chihuahua and a French Bulldog.

The Chihuahua is the most popular breed in 21 different states, and the Golden Retriever tops the list in 14 states. Other breeds that top the list in a few states include the Goldendoodle, the Shih Tzu, the French Bulldog, the German Shepherd, and the Yorkshire Terrier. It's interesting to see how geography impacts the most popular dog breeds. See the full list here.
5 Unique Ways To Get Your Dog Moving
  1. Agility Course Fun: Create a backyard obstacle course with cones, tunnels, and hurdles. Guide your dog through it for agility and coordination.

  2. Hide and Seek Treats: Hide treats around your home or yard to engage your dog's scavenging instincts and keep them moving.

  3. Interactive Toys: Invest in toys that dispense treats or require puzzle-solving for mental stimulation and physical activity.

  4. Swimming Sessions: Take your water-loving dog for a swim to provide low-impact, full-body exercise.

  5. Doga (Dog Yoga): Try doga together for gentle stretching, bonding, and relaxation.

Keep Your Body Moving
So… what exactly does collagen do, again? This nutrient is Insta-trending for a reason – it's essential for healthy skin, joints, and bones. The big bummer: many collagen supplements are made with artificial ingredients and (gross) animal byproducts.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet the Top Dog
If you are surprised by the Chihuahua's position at the top of the list, you might be missing out on the personality that makes so many people fall in love with these pups. This video captures it perfectly. These dogs might be descendants of wolves, but they have developed into something completely different at this point.
3 Ideas To Chill With Your Pup
  1. Cozy Movie Night: Snuggle up with your dog on the couch for a movie marathon. Create a comfortable spot with blankets and pillows, and don't forget your furry friend's favorite chew toy or blanket. Enjoy some popcorn (make sure it's safe for dogs) and relax together while watching your favorite films.

  2. Outdoor Picnic: Pack a picnic basket with dog-friendly snacks and head to a nearby park or garden. Find a shady spot to spread out a blanket, and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with your dog by your side. Take a stroll together, play fetch, or simply bask in the tranquility of nature while bonding with your canine companion.

  3. Pamper Spa Day: Treat your dog to a spa day at home with a DIY grooming session. Set up a bathing area with warm water and gentle shampoo, followed by a relaxing massage during the drying process. Trim their nails, brush their coat, and finish off with a spritz of dog-friendly cologne. Your pup will not only look and feel great but also appreciate the extra love and attention.

How To Chill Your Mood Out
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
