Six Ways to Help Your Dog With Allergies
It's that time of year when pollen counts start to rise, and pups can feel the effects of the seasonal change with allergy symptoms. Most symptoms are similar to those humans experience with sneezing, itchy eyes, and skin issues. Dogs might also experience stomach issues. If your dog is suffering from allergies, there are a few things that you can do to help your pup.
  • Adapt your daily walk routine. Pollen levels are highest early in the morning and late in the afternoon, so stick to mid-day walks. Avoid areas with lots of flowers. When you get home, clean your pup off with a wipe and rinse their feet.
  • Clear the air and surfaces. Run a dehumidifier to help reduce moisture from the air in your home. Vacuum often to keep the carpet clear of pollen and allergens. Change your air filters often as well.
  • Wash blankets and towels. Make sure you're cleaning your bedding once a week in hot water. Anything your dog might sleep on would be good.
  • Jump in the bath. During allergy season, put your pup in the bathtub more often to keep its coat clear and clean. Use soothing ingredients like oatmeal, aloe, or oils.
  • Give your dog supplements. Fish oil and fatty acids, such as omega-3 or omega-6, improve skin health. Coconut oil is another great ingredient for dogs' healthier skin. Water is also important, so ensure your dog has access to clean water.
  • Additional treatments might help. If nothing you're doing at home is helping, talk to your vet and see if there are any medicines you could try to help your dog get more comfortable.

Breeds Most Likely to Have Allergies
As we covered above, dogs suffer from allergies just like humans. Some breeds are more susceptible to allergies than others, so it's a good idea to check this list and see if you need to pay attention to your pup.
  1. French Bulldog - Because of their skin folds and genetic makeup, they often manifest dermatitis. Food allergies are also common with these pups.
  2. Boxer - Airborn allergens can impact these pups, and they may get itchy and have inflamed skin. Food allergies are also possible with this breed and may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms.
  3. Labrador Retriever - The thick coats of this breed can trap a lot of allergens, which can cause ear infections and hot spots. Regular grooming can help keep their hair clean.
  4. German Shepherd - These dogs are predisposed to allergies affecting digestive systems and skin. They may react severely to flea bites and need regular flea control.
  5. Golden Retriever - This breed has a dense undercoat that can trap a build-up of pollen, grass, and mold. Food allergies are also common to ingredients like dairy, beef, and wheat. Vets can help change the diet.
  6. Bulldog - The skin folds on English bulldogs can trap moisture and allergens and lead to skin infections and irritation. It's important to keep their skin clean and keep their diets free from allergens.
  7. Cocker Spaniel - Ear infections are more common in breeds like this with long ears. The warm, humid environment traps allergens and promotes infections. Regular ear cleaning can help.
  8. Pug - With shorter noses and skin folds, pugs are susceptible to allergies. It's important to minimize exposure to triggers by cleaning and adjusting their diets.
  9. Shar-Pei - The signature wrinkles on this breed can trap allergens and moisture, like a bulldog. Regular grooming and adjustments to their diet can help keep them healthy.
  10. West Highland White Terrier - Westies are predisposed to skin allergies. Using hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioners can help manage allergies.

Hiking with Hounds: Tips for Safe and Enjoyable Adventures
As the weather warms up and nature beckons, many outdoor enthusiasts are gearing up for hiking adventures. For dog owners, hitting the trails with their furry companions adds an extra layer of excitement. However, ensuring a safe and enjoyable hiking experience for both you and your dog requires proper preparation and precautions.

Choosing the right trails is paramount. Opt for routes that are dog-friendly, with moderate difficulty levels and well-marked paths. It's also crucial to pack essential supplies, including water, a collapsible bowl, waste bags, a first-aid kit, and a leash. A lightweight dog backpack can help distribute the weight and carry your dog's supplies comfortably.

Checking the weather forecast is essential before embarking on your hike. Extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather can pose risks to you and your dog's safety. Additionally, be mindful of wildlife encounters and potential hazards along the trail.

Keeping your dog leashed is a fundamental safety measure, especially in areas with wildlife or other hikers. A sturdy leash ensures you maintain control and prevents your dog from wandering off or getting into trouble.

Throughout the hike, monitor your dog's health closely. Signs of fatigue, overheating, or dehydration require immediate attention, so take regular breaks to rest and rehydrate.

By following these tips, you can embark on a safe and enjoyable hiking adventure with your canine companion, creating cherished memories in the great outdoors.

Boost Your Mood

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
