Dave Portnoy's Rescue Dog Uses Platform for Good
Dave Portnoy is the founder of Barstool Sports, a sports and pop culture website, so he knows how to get attention on the internet. But it wasn't until he rescued Miss Peaches, his six-year-old American Pit Bull, that he realized he could use his platform to help raise funds for other shelter pups.

Miss Peaches was adopted from the Lifeline Animal Project in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, you can visit the merch page for Miss Peaches on the Barstool Store website, and 100% of the profits from everything you purchase from this collection will go directly to the Lifeline Animal Project. One favorite is the hoodie with her face and "Adopt Don't Shop" embroidered on it.

So far, Portnoy has raised about $150,000 for the organization. Miss Peaches has over 300,000 followers on her Instagram, so she's quickly becoming a celebrity herself. Her bio reads I went from the outhouse to the penthouse. Now, I'm learning how to enjoy the finer things in life. Help her grow her page and continue to raise awareness for adoptable shelter dogs.
10 Ways You Can Help Your Local Animal Shelter
Today is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day! While Miss Peaches is doing her part to raise funds, we wanted to share some ways we can all help our local animal shelters. The Humane Society put together these ten ideas to give back, and there's something on the list for everyone.
  1. Adopt a pet. If you have considered adding a pet to your family, consider adoption and check out your local shelters. There are so many local groups that can help you find the best match.
  2. Donate. Most rescue organizations rely on generous donations, which help cover staffing, supplies, facility upgrades, and community outreach programs.
  3. Volunteer. Give your time and skills to a local animal shelter. Whether you are skilled in marketing, or carpentry, or simply have time to walk some dogs, contact your local facilities to see what they need help with.
  4. Say Thanks. Take a minute to thank a shelter team for their hard work. If you adopted your dog from a local organization, send them an update or shout them out on social media.
  5. Become a fan. Like, follow, and comment on your local rescue group's social media pages. This helps them grow their networks and get seen by more people. Plus, it only takes a second.
  6. Get Crafty. Shelters can always use some attention-grabbing things for their animal houses. Whether it's curtains to give the cats some privacy or colorful vests for adoption events, you might be able to put your craftiness to work.
  7. Make wishes come true. Check online for the shelter's wishlist and see what toys, blankets, and other supplies they need. If they don't have one, call them and ask.
  8. Become a foster. Foster families are lifesavers. They take in pets that might need a bit more attention or can help when the shelters are full. Plus, if you have pets in your home already, this can provide them with some additional enrichment and entertainment.
  9. Help at your own home. Do all the preventative steps to keep your animals safe. Ensure they have collars and ID tags, get them microchipped, and have them spayed or neutered. These tasks will help keep your dogs and cats out of the shelters.
  10. Help your shelter make positive changes. Contact your elected officials and work with the rescue organizations to update ordinances and budgets in your community. Help add your voice to the group to get more attention to the places that need it.
3 Super Supplements For Your Pup
  1. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 fatty acids, such as those found in fish oil, can promote healthy skin and coat, reduce inflammation, and support heart and joint health in dogs. Look for fish oil supplements specifically formulated for dogs, as they typically contain the appropriate dosage and are flavored to appeal to dogs.

  2. Glucosamine and Chondroitin: These supplements are commonly used to support joint health and may help alleviate symptoms of arthritis and joint stiffness in dogs, especially in older individuals or those with joint issues. Glucosamine and chondroitin supplements are often combined with other ingredients like MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) for enhanced joint support.

  3. Probiotics: Just like in humans, probiotics can promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria in dogs, which can support digestion and overall immune health. Probiotic supplements formulated for dogs can be particularly beneficial for dogs with digestive issues, allergies, or those undergoing antibiotic treatment.

Remember to always follow the recommended dosage guidelines provided by the manufacturer or your veterinarian, as excessive supplementation can sometimes have adverse effects. Additionally, it's essential to choose high-quality supplements specifically designed for dogs, as human supplements may not be suitable or safe for canine consumption.

What Can Collagen Do For You?
So… what exactly does collagen do, again? This nutrient is Insta-trending for a reason – it's essential for healthy skin, joints, and bones. The big bummer: many collagen supplements are made with artificial ingredients and (gross) animal byproducts.

NativePath has a different approach. NativePath collagen is certified grass-fed and pure, and sourced from 100% happy, healthy cows… so you can put nutrients into a happy, healthy human. It provides Types 1 and 3 collagen – more than 90% of your body's needs. Plus, it's tasty and provides 20 grams of protein, so you'll get lots of energy to boot.

Shelter Dogs Help NFL Team Prep for Big Game
Visiting shelter dogs and helping out at the animal shelters isn't just great for the animals. The San Francisco 49ers took time out of their busy schedule and visited an animal shelter before Championship Sunday this year. By spending time giving back to the community and petting dogs, they were able to help calm nerves and relax before the big game. In addition, the adorable photos of giant NFL players holding adoptable little pups helped raise awareness.
5 Signs Your Dog Is In A Happy Mood
  1. Tail Wagging: A wagging tail is one of the most recognizable signs of a happy dog. If your dog's tail is wagging loosely and their body language is relaxed, it likely indicates that they are feeling content and happy.
  2. Relaxed Body Language: Happy dogs often exhibit relaxed body language. This includes loose, wiggly movements, soft eyes, and ears that are in a natural position (neither pinned back nor overly alert).

  3. Playfulness: Dogs express happiness through playfulness. If your dog is initiating play, such as bringing you toys, playfully nudging you, or engaging in zoomies (sudden bursts of energy and running around), it's a good sign that they're feeling joyful.

  4. Smiling or Panting with Open Mouth: Dogs can "smile" by pulling back their lips to reveal their teeth in a relaxed manner. Additionally, panting with an open mouth, particularly if it's accompanied by a relaxed facial expression, can indicate happiness, especially after exercise or play.

  5. Seeking Attention and Affection: Happy dogs often seek out attention and affection from their owners. If your dog is leaning into your touch, nudging you for pets, or happily cuddling up with you, it's a clear sign that they're feeling content and loved.

How To Boost Your Happy Mood
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
