Five Fun Ways to Celebrate Earth Day with Your Dog
Dogs love to be outside, especially when going on an adventure with you. Since today is Earth Day, we wanted to share a few ideas for things you can do with your pup to celebrate this special planet we all call home. These options are both sustainable and fun, so grab your four-legged friend and head outside together.
  • Take a hike. This doesn't have to be anything intense. Just get outside together and enjoy some fresh air and nature.
  • Plant something. Consider planting a tree, shrub, vegetable, or flower in your yard or a local park (if allowed.) Make sure to select a native species so you don't disrupt the ecosystem with an invasive species. There are many great pet-safe plants available to add to your yard.
  • Pick up litter on your walk. Leash up your dog and grab a small garbage bag and some gloves. Head out on your usual walking path and grab any trash you see along the route. Dispose of it when you get home and enjoy the fact that you left the route better than you found it.
  • Upcycle your dog accessories. If you have items lying around that you do not use for your dog anymore, see if there's a shelter where you can donate the items. Shelters accept all kinds of pet goodies that are in decent condition, and you'll be giving the items a second life.
  • Shop eco-friendly pet supplies. Look for biodegradable or compostable poop bags. Shop for toys and leashes that are made from recycled materials. They'll be better for the planet and great for your dog.
Please snap a photo of your dog celebrating Earth Day and share it with us. We love to see everyone out there doing something good for the planet.
Breeds Who Make the Best Hiking Partners
If you want to take your outdoor adventures to the next level, these breeds make excellent partners for hiking and active environments. The breeds on this list have high energy, stamina, and agility, so they are naturally built for rigorous activities.
  1. Labrador Retriever - These friendly pups have a lot of energy and natural athleticism, so they are great hiking companions that can handle various terrains.
  2. Australian Shepherd - While they were originally bred for herding, they are smart and have strong endurance, so they are great on challenging hikes and adventures.
  3. Border Collie - Another herding dog, this breed has stamina and intelligence, so they are ideal for long hikes and navigating difficult terrain.
  4. German Shorthaired Pointer - Outdoor adventures come naturally to this breed. Thanks to their hunting abilities, they have a keen sense of smell and can work in various climates.
  5. Siberian Husky - These pups were bred to pull sleds in the Arctic, so they are great for cold-weather hiking.
  6. Alaskan Malamute - Similar to huskies, this breed is built for strength and endurance. They can carry packs and navigate rugged terrain, especially in colder climates.
  7. Vizsla - We featured this high-energy pup last Friday and shared that their hunting backgrounds make them great companions for outdoor activities.
  8. Bernese Mountain Dog - It's all in the name, these dogs are meant for the mountains. They are calm, steady, and strong.
  9. Rhodesian Ridgeback - These dogs were bred for hunting in Africa and do well in hot climates. They are fast and strong with good endurance.
  10. Belgian Malinois - Another breed that was originally a herding dog, this dog has great stamina and agility. They are great for long, challenging hikes.
  11. Weimaraner - This breed is strong and known for their speed and endurance. They can keep up on long hikes and adventures outside.
  12. Jack Russell Terrier - While they might be the smallest breed on this list, they are full of energy and have no problem keeping up on hikes. They love exploring new areas, and they are easy to transport thanks to their smaller stature.
While these 12 breeds all make excellent hiking companions, that doesn't mean that others wouldn't fit right in on this list. Keep an eye on your dog and start with shorter hikes to ensure they can keep up. Safety on the trail is important, and when you bring your dog along, you also have to have a backup plan for them.

Three Ways to Improve Your Dog's Mood
Just like humans, dogs can experience shifts in mood influenced by various factors. Here are three ways to uplift your dog's spirits and ensure their happiness:
  1. More Exercise: Engage your pup in daily physical activities such as walks, runs, or interactive play sessions. Exercise also stimulates their mind, releasing endorphins that promote feelings of joy and contentment.
  2. Mental Stimulation: Introduce mentally stimulating games and puzzles to keep your dog's mind sharp and engaged. Activities like hide-and-seek with treats or learning new tricks strengthen the bond between you and your pet.
  3. Positive Reinforcement: Try increasing positive reinforcement with activities that involve treats, praise, and affection.
These Cannabis Gummies Keep Selling Out In 2023
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990's, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes! Order now.

DOTD - Meet Holly & Bonnie
A few weeks ago, some places in the United States got to experience an eclipse. Our reader, Melissa, sent us this photo of her dogs, Holly Blossom and Bonnie Blue, ready to enjoy a special moment in time. It looks like they were ready with their safety glasses in Northern Texas. We hope they enjoyed this phenomenon.

Tips for Selecting the Best Nutrition
Selecting high-quality food for your dog is essential for their health and vitality. Follow these steps to ensure you're making the best choice:
  • Quality Ingredients: Look for foods with real meat as the primary ingredient, avoiding fillers, by-products, and artificial additives.
  • Nutritional Balance: Check for AAFCO certification to ensure the food provides complete and balanced nutrition. Consider your dog's age, size, and activity level for protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Brand: Choose trusted brands known for their commitment to quality and safety. Research their manufacturing processes, ingredient sourcing, and any history of recalls.
  • Seek Advice: Read reviews, and consult with veterinarians or pet nutritionists for personalized recommendations tailored to your dog's specific needs.
