World Dog Surfing Competitions
Every Summer, there is a competition for pups from all over in California. The dogs compete and show off their surfing skills to a gathering of spectators. The event continues to grow in popularity each year, and was held at Linda Mar Beach this summer. This video captures some of the day's best moments.

Rent a Pup On Vacation
The Kauai Humane Society has a program that rents pups out to tourists during their trip. The pups come with a vest that says "adopt me" to help gain some awareness and attention. The tourists often take the pups on hikes and spend time spoiling them with love and affection. The animal shelter reports that an average of four dogs a month return home with their vacation buddies to a forever home!

Boost Your Well Being With a Pup
Dogs make us happy. They are wonderful and loyal companions. If you don't believe it, research shows it only takes five to twenty minutes of interaction with a dog to reduce your stress and boost your health.

If you find yourself in a situation where you experience homesickness, spending a few minutes petting a dog can reduce that feeling of sadness. The science behind it involves the hormones and chemicals in your brain that respond to feelings of love and attachment.

Funding continues to increase for studies that focus on the relationship between dogs and humans, so you will likely see even more research on this topic. But, the real question is, do we really need any additional proof that these wonderful animals benefit our well-being?
