This Pup Got Up Close to Humpback Whales
The experience of seeing Humpback Whales in the wild is incredible for anyone. It's not often that pups get the chance to be on the boat observing these gentle giants. This video from USA Today captures a dog getting to see the whale up close and personal. It's probably good that the dog was on a leash because he might have wanted to jump in and give a sniff.
Dog of the Day: Meet Goldie and Grae
Our reader, Shelley, sent in this wonderful picture of two of her favorite pups dressed up. Goldie is dressed up as an angel, and her granddog, Grae, is dressed up as a little devil. In reality, she says that they each have a little of both in their personalities. Both pups were rescued. Grae is a mix of Chihuahua, beagle, and rat terrier. Goldie is a mix of Pomeranian, shitzu, and beagle. Both dogs love sniffing and exploring the world with their noses and spending time together.

What We're Digging
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That's why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a "joint within a gummy" that's extremely potent yet federally legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body's endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid-onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

Feeling Stressed? Pet a Dog
Nancy Gee is a professor of psychiatry and director of the Center for Human-Animal Interaction at Virginia Commonwealth University. She shares research that says animals benefit our mental and physical health.

The levels of stress hormone cortisol drop in people after just five to twenty minutes spent interacting with dogs, even if it's not their pet. It's also a two-way street. Humans have increases in oxytocin, a feel-good hormone. Dogs also have increased oxytocin when interacting with a human.

On the physical side, dog ownership has been linked to positive health outcomes, including improved heart health and increased physical activity. The field of study is still fairly new, but more and more studies are being done about the connection between dogs and humans.

A study using eight and nine-year-old children in the UK found that kids who had twice-weekly exchanges with dogs in the classroom had less stress and improved executive functioning. Dogs live in the moment and prompt us as humans to do that. We are pulled into their environment to see the world in a new way.

We just love knowing that there is scientific evidence to back up our love for dogs. Petting them is medicine, and you should make sure to get some ear scratches in for your mental health today.
