New York City has a rule stating that dogs are only allowed to ride on the subways if they are contained in a crate or bag. That is no problem for people with small dogs who are happy to ride in a purse. But what about those who have larger pups that want to explore other parts of the city? Jackie Hornung has found a way to get around these rules. This NYC native has reached viral status on TikTok by sharing her method for bringing her large white samoyed dog, Lumi, on the subway. He rides all over the city by fitting his body into a backpack that she can carry. It's a pretty bright idea! | | Image courtesy of People. | | Do(g)-It-Yourself Halloween Dog Toy Halloween is coming up and if you want to give your pup something to play with that matches the season, try this squeaky witch toy. Your dog won't even feel left out when it comes to trick or treating! Instead, they'll have this fun toy to play with. DIY stuffed squeaky witch toy You'll need: Sturdy fabric in a witchy color, black fleece, scraps for embellishments, stuffing for filling the toy, squeakers, colored thread, a sewing machine, and cutting supplies. - Cut two identical triangular pieces of fabric or one large diamond that you can fold on the bottom instead of having a seam.
- Cut out scraps for the hat, hairs, eyes, mouth, and any other embellishments you want to add.
- Sew the dress and hair into place. Hair can be made by sewing a piece of fabric and cutting the bottom into fringe.
- Sew the hat piece on and cover up the top edge of the hair.
- Add any other embellishments you want to add.
- Seam the sides of the triangular pieces. Leave a small gap to stuff the toy.

Visit Constant Contact here! | | Newfoundlands, The Gentle Giants Newfoundlands originated in the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland. It's a giant breed with a fascinating history. It's believed that the breed was brought to Canada by European fishermen in the 18th century. The origins are likely a mix of breeds, like the Great Pyrenees and Portuguese Water Dogs, who thrive in a wet, harsh environment. They served fishermen as water rescue dogs due to their webbed feet and excellent swimming ability. Males are typically between 130 and 150 pounds while females are slightly smaller, weighing between 100 and 120 pounds. They have a double coat that is dense and water-resistant. The colors vary and include black, brown, gray, and white. This breed makes an excellent family dog. They are known for being good-natured and patient with children. Their size can be intimidating, but they are typically very friendly with strangers. Newfies are fiercely loyal and very devoted companions. They are known for their intelligence and are easy to train because they want to please their owners. Daily exercise is good for Newfoundlands. They enjoy walks, swimming, or playtime. Regular grooming is important to keep their double coat from matting. Brush them regularly to reduce the amount of shedding and loose hair. Keeping them cool on hot days is important because they can overheat with their thick coats. If you are looking for a large and friendly family dog, the Newfoundland might just be the perfect companion! | | Image courtesy of Dog's Best Life. | | Did You Know: Answer: False!
