How a Book is Saving Thousands of Dogs
Brooklyn Goes Home is a true story about a greyhound named Brooklyn. Brooklyn spent eight years living in a concrete cell at the worst dog track in the world. Christine Dorchak and Carey Theil have now told his story, and he's become a symbol of the fight to end dog racing in the United States.

Even though Brooklyn's life was hard for those years he spent racing, he's still a loving and happy dog. The authors say he taught them so much about true love and forgiveness. Dorchak and Theil have spent the last 25 years working to end dog racing and have helped save 50,000 greyhounds thus far. Grab a copy of the book to learn more about their mission, and how you can help.

Recipe: Do(g)-It-Yourself Oat and Apple Dog Pretzels
Apple season is upon us, so today, we're sharing a recipe that includes this seasonal favorite flavor. Treat your dog to these healthy pretzel treats made with only four ingredients. Let your dog join the fall festivities using this simple recipe!

Oat and Apple Dog Pretzel Treats
You'll need: one egg, one cup of unsweetened applesauce, 2 cups of oat flour, and ¾ cup of old-fashioned rolled oats.
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Use a whisk to beat the egg.
  3. Combine applesauce, oat flour, and rolled oats in a large bowl. Add the egg to the bowl, but set one tablespoon of the egg aside. Stir the mixture until it becomes dough.
  4. Roll two tablespoons of the dough into a tube until it's about 10 inches long. Make the tube into a U-shape, twist the ends together, and create a pretzel shape. Repeat until all the dough is used.
  5. Brush the top of each pretzel with the remaining egg on the baking tray.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until they are crispy and slightly browned. Allow to cool before serving to your dog.

What We're Digging
A Banksy got everyday investors 32% returns?

We know it may sound too good to be true. But it's not only possible, it's happening—and thousands of investors are smiling all the way to the bank, thanks to the fine-art investing platform Masterworks.

These results aren't cherry-picking. This is the whole bushel. Masterworks has built a track record of 14 exits, the last 3 realizing 17.8%, 21.5%, and 35% net returns even while financial markets plummeted.

But art? Really? Okay, skeptics, here are the numbers. Contemporary art prices:
- Outpaced the S&P 500 by 131% over the last 26 years.
- Have the lowest correlation to equities of any asset class.
- Remained stable through the dot-com bubble and the '08 crisis.

Gadgets to Make Your Life Easier as a Dog Owner
Technological advancements have improved so many parts of our daily routine, and pet owners have not been left out. These gadgets and innovations have made training, entertaining, feeding, and protecting our dogs easier. Don't worry, they won't replace the interaction you have with your dog.

Seven dog gadgets to make your life easier:
  • Smart Feeders - Keep your dog on an eating routine even when your schedule may be unpredictable. Schedule multiple meals and set the portion size; the feeders will take care of meal time. There are options with slow-feeding settings as well.
  • Interactive Toys - Options like the Wickedbone Smart Bone provide entertainment for your dog. The toys are chew-safe and can be controlled by an app. They provide some play time and mental stimulation for dogs to fight boredom.
  • Pet Cameras - Many dog owners like to check in on their dogs when they aren't home. Pet cameras allow you to see what your dog is up to while you're gone and sometimes even dispense treats.
  • Cord-Free Vacuum Cleaners - If you have a dog that sheds, having an easy-to-grab cordless vacuum will help you keep your home clean and hair-free. There are vacuums made specifically for pet hair and dander.
  • Training Clickers - These are important tools that many dog trainers recommend. The clickers can help dogs recognize good behavior and are effective training tools.
  • Self-Cleaning Brushes - It's important to brush your dog's coat during shedding seasons. There are now brushes that clean themselves, which helps contain the hair and makes brushing easier.
  • Activity Trackers - Collars are available now, allowing you to see where your dog is at all times (helpful if you have an escape artist). Some options allow you to track how much your pup is sleeping, moving, and if they are getting enough exercise each day.
