| | Stranded Dog Rescued from Canal Finds Forever Family | 10-year-old Dorothea was rescued after she was found floating down a canal on a submerged shopping cart. Nobody knows how long this patient Chihuahua mix has been stranded, but passersby noticed her and immediately alerted the Arizona Humane Society (AHS). | The team carefully used a ladder and a rake to pull the sweet senior pup to safety. | Once out of the canal, Dorothea was taken to the AHS Pet Ambulance. She was dehydrated, hungry, and covered in ticks, but despite her ordeal, somehow she only had minor injuries. | News of Dorothea's rescue touched hearts all over, and soon enough, a family from Youngtown, Arizona, came forward and gave her a new beginning. What an experience Dorothea lived through – we're so happy she's in a loving home now. |
